Business is winding down at our U-Pick Lavender Farm, and only a few customers came to visit today. Two ladies dropped by early afternoon and purchased a bottle of our L. Angustifolia, “English” Lavender essential oil. It was going to be used to calm one of them during an airplane trip she would be taking soon. She said she has extreme anxiety flying, and hopes this will calm her. I told her to apply it to her pulse points on her wrist, and inhale the aroma, and also apply it to her temples, or a tissue to inhale, and sit back and relax, if possible…

While I waited for customers, I packed up a few web orders to send out. One package, included our two different Culinary Lavenders, was going out to a Floral & Gift Gourmet Food shop in South Carolina. This will be the start of a wholesale account with them. She said she loves to cook with Lavender, and plans to make a batch of Lavender Oatmeal Cookies to share.  We talked about making my favorite “Sweet Potato Pie” with lavender crumb topping!!! Yummy!!! I will add this recipe to our site soon:)

As things slow down and we close for the season on our Lavender Farm, we will always open by appointment, and do so quite often for our customers to shop. We will also be opening for special holiday shopping, on Thanksgiving weekend, November 27th, 28th, and 29th. I’m busy working on some gift packs of customer favorites, and those are always popular then too.

We “Welcome November“, and appreciate the gift of beautiful sunny days like today, with extremely gorgeous views of our valley, and our two mountains!!!!!

Wedding at Hood River Lavender Farms
Wedding at Hood River Lavender Farms

Today I responded to several emails inquiring about 2009 weddings at our Lavender Farm. We are now doing weddings at our farm.  Our lavender farm is a scenic, romantic setting for small intimate weddings. The maximum number of quests is 175, and we are doing ceremony only. We have stunning views of both Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. The peak season is June, July and August, and there are Black Out dates, so we encourage folks to reserve “Your Day” soon.  We love to host and celebrate such a big day. Who knew that our passion would lead to a place where others wish to honor each other and exchange their vows? Such fun!
