Take care of yourself..get your yearly Mammogram“, those words kept ringing in my head. So..that’s what I did today. Oh my, I really enjoyed it, too.. 😉 It’s good for me, like eating healthy foods, and exercise.. right? Thankfully the results came back, a week later, all good! Yeah!!

After the Mammo…I decided to do what girls do..go shopping! 🙂 I went downtown to one of my cool headwear businesses: Shred Alert. They are a lifestyle headwear hat brand for people that love to Shred!!  I purchased some fabulous hats to send my son in N.C. for his next ski trip. One for my sweet hubby, 1 for my daughter, and of’course one for Me. Thanks Shred Alert for making awesome hats!!

We love Huckleberry’s Natural Market

One of our favorite wholesale accounts, Rosauers “Huckleberry’s Natural Market”, is having their grand re-opening this weekend. We will be participating with a display of our Culinary Lavenders, “Provence” and “Signature Blend”. I am preparing our Lavender Mint Shortbread, and Lavender Ginger Snaps, and will have samples for tasting. We’ve had a wholesale account with Rosauers for around 6 years now. I can’t begin to tell the staff at “Huckleberry’s Department” how much we appreciate them! I love to see their smiling friendly faces, while I’m visiting to restock our display, or just in shopping.  I also love to hear customers tell how they conveniently purchase our lavender products while shopping for groceries 🙂

I have packed a lovely basket full of our most popular culinary products that will be raffeled off on Saturday, so be sure and “Come Out” to say “HI”, and sign up for the gift basket! We celebrate our friendship and business relationship with Rosauers Huckleberry’s Natural Market, in our home town of Hood River. Thank you Rosauers!!

Bring In The New..But Keep The Old Favorites For Comfort

What brings you comfort? On this cold wintery day, nothing brings me comfort like the aroma that fills my house when I’m baking bread! It’s aromatherapy of the finest!! So today, it felt good to bake a batch of fresh multi-grain bread. I’ve been baking bread for years, my mother was my mentor, showing me the way to create rustic breads, and her father taught her. He, my grandfather, owned a bakery in Juneau Alaska, but he passed away before I was able to bake with him.  I will keep his tradition of baking yeast breads alive! Awww…I love the aroma of fresh baked bread.

My mother revised a simple, no-fail bread recipe for me, and I’m sharing it with you.  I have not altered this basic recipe…but I confess, sometimes I change the variety of flours, grains, and spices that I use. That’s the creative part that brings the fun into it! I might even add our Culinary Lavender, with cinnamon and raisins! Now I’m going to enjoy a slice, with a bit of butter on top 🙂 MMMmm… “Happy New Year”!!!

Keep smiling and growing, but keep those favorite traditions alive.
