Yesterday was a gorgeous day with the sunshine warming the cool air of fall. Both mountains with new snow, were in view all day for customers to enjoy. So extremely serene!! I carved a Jack-0-Lantern to decorate the garden, just in time for Halloween weekend. In the afternoon a group of high school students visited us for a tour of the farm, and to learn about our Lavender essential oil distillation. They also enjoyed a sample of our Lavender Mint Shortbread, and learned that lavender is a wonderful herb to eat 🙂
Thanks for coming out today, Horizon Christian School students! I enjoyed your visit!
We had an Awesome Harvest Fest, thanks to everyone that drove out to visit us!!! The weather was incredibly warm, and pleasant for people to lounge around on the Adirondack chairs, stroll through the garden, or blow bubbles with their children. We even had a few u-pick bouquets cut from the 2nd bloom of the English Lavender, which is the latest that we have ever had fresh lavender still in bloom! Our Apple Cider with Lavender Mulling Spice was a enjoyed by many. We greatly appreciate all our customers and friends, and hope you will have a wonderful fall season.
Today I’m relaxing awhile as I wait on customers. In the afternoon I’ll plant a few Iris bulbs around the garden to enjoy next year. We are open at our farm through the end of this month, then close for the season and only open by appointment until Spring.
This is another big weekend with Heirloom Apple Celebration, so please plan to join us for some great Lavender Ginger Apple Cider, Lavender Shortbread & tons of goodies!
I’m preparing for the Harvest Fest weekend and can’t help but be extremely thankful for this beautiful weather we are having. 🙂 As I look out over my Lavender Farm at the perennials and annuals still in bloom-especially my petunias that reseeded themselves around the pavers of my patio, I am amazed. The hard frosts have not hit as of yet, like in most years at this time, and Joe & I even observed a butterfly this afternoon! It feels more like a September day.
Hope you can enjoy the weekend! Stop by the Lavender Farm if you are in the area and sample some Lavender Mint Shortbread & Lavender Harvest Mulling Apple Cider!
This blog is about my day to day life on a Lavender Farm.
